Pastor Melody Hullett, wife of Porter Hullett, is a mother and grandmother. A former Warden at
the Illinois Department of Corrections, Melody began as a Correctional Officer at Jacksonville
Correctional Center, earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, and rose to
Assistant Warden of Programs at Decatur Correctional Center in 2007. She became Warden of
Lincoln Correctional Center in 2009, served until 2013, then voluntarily reduced her role to
Assistant Warden at Logan Correctional Center until September 30, 2013. Melody and Porter
are CEOs and Founders of Pure Haven Family Resource Center, helping empowered
individuals and families.

Melody taught at Life Christian University's Springfield, Illinois campus. She holds a bachelor's
in organizational leadership, a Master of Arts in Theology, and a bachelor's in Christian
counseling. She received the 2017 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from Barack
Obama for volunteer service. Melody earned certificates in Anger Management Consulting
(2018), Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault, Partner Abuse Intervention Facilitation, and
Mental Health First Aid for youth and adults (recertified in 2024).

After stepping away from IDOC and becoming a licensed Minister, she saw her first client at
Lifetime Pregnancy Center, now First Step Women’s Center. A few months later, she began
counseling individuals from her home office.

Recognizing that God had a greater vision for Pure Haven FRC, she hosted the organization’s
first fundraiser in 2016. Through generous donations, she secured the funds needed to
establish Pure Haven’s first office at 1204 S. 4th Street. This new space allowed Melody to offer
practical, life-changing workshops designed to empower those struggling with hopelessness
and instability.

In a divine move of expansion, First Step Women’s Center opened its heart to Pure Haven,
leading to a relocation at 215 S. Grand Ave. W. This transition provided the opportunity to grow
the team, adding a male counselor, an additional Christian counselor, and expanding workshop
offerings.

Today, Pure Haven also provides PAIP (Partner Abuse Intervention) through trained specialists.
During our tenure, we have had the privilege of offering Anger Management programs for 4th

and 5th graders at Hazel Dell Elementary and positively impacting the lives of individuals and
families—all for God’s glory.

Melody is a licensed Minister and ordained Elder who currently serves as Executive Pastor of
Word and Spirit Worship Center. Melody also is a Regional Leader with Primerica, a financial
servicing company; she believes in ministering to the whole person which includes empowering
a person to become whole mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. Melody loves
sharing God’s love, teaching, and preaching. Her favorite scriptures are Jeremiah 29:11 and
Luke 1:37 the foundation scriptures for Pure Haven Family Resource Center, which reminds her
that God has plans for every individual and nothing is impossible with Him.

Porter who is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana attended the University of Indianapolis, is a graduate of the American College of Life Underwriters, an Army Veteran, Former Insurance and Securities Representative, and presently works as a Business Account Executive for Comcast Business Services Department. Melody is grateful for the wonderful support of her husband who adds great value to Pure Haven with his knowledge, wisdom, and heart for family unity.

Together Porter and Melody also oversee the Ministry Department for Marriages at Cathedral of Worship church where they are members.  Porter and Melody have a heart for broken, suffering marriages with a desire to aid and lead them to wholeness the way God intended.  Porter and Melody have a blended family of three adult children, three granddaughters and have been married for 14 years.  

Gail welcomes everyone with a heart and love of God.  We appreciate her flexibility and desire to aide in keeping our office running smoothly.  She not only serves as our receptionist but she goes above and beyond by serving as a co-teacher of Bible Study with Director Hullett as well as other office tasks and responsibilities.  We love everything about Ms. Gail and appreciate all that she does with the love of God operating through her naturally.

Paige greets everyone with a warm and welcoming smile, reflecting the love of God to all who walk through our doors. We are deeply grateful for her flexibility and willingness to support the day-to-day operations of our office. In addition to her role as part-time receptionist, Paige goes above and beyond by assisting with grant writing and volunteering her time at our events and workshops. She eagerly steps in wherever needed, contributing to both administrative tasks and special projects. We truly appreciate all that Paige does, as she serves with grace and a growing love for God that shines through everything she touches.
